The Intertwined Designs Story and Philosophy

Intertwined Designs strives to produce high quality, durable clothing for men and women that are handcrafted in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner. We choose hemp for our designs because it is strong, requires minimal chemical inputs, and has a higher yield per acre than other fibers. Hemp’s ability to breathe, also makes it an ideal fiber for active clothing. All garments are pre-washed to ensure quality apparel that looks and feels great. Also, know that we stand behind the product you hold in your hands. Thank you for supporting this small business, and in turn helping our local economy to thrive. Enjoy!

Intertwined Designs was started by myself, Betsy Cassell, in February of 2001. That was a long, long time ago in a cabin in Whatcom County, located outside of Bellingham, WA. Since then, I have moved my studio from cabin to cabin finding ways to make all my fabric and machines fit in small funky spaces. I have changed styles and fabrics through the years to match my own style; and customer's needs and wants.

Ever since I was a youngin I wanted to own my own business. I grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and then moved to Bellingham, Washington area in April of 1998. I started working at a local fabric/sewing machine store. After several years of working there, I thought, "hey, I can do this myself." I joined our local Farmer's Market and started Intertwined Designs. It took off quite well, I had just a small rack of hemp clothing, and was concentrating on my quilts and quilted goods. I soon realized that the clothing was where I needed to put my time and energy. Intertwined Designs now selects a few festival's every year to vend at. I try to localize what I do and spend most of my vending days at the Bellingham Farmer's Market. We also wholesale to stores and sell on our website and on Etsy. Thank you so much for supporting my small business, which in return help's to make my local economy thrive and support all small businesses in our country :D I feel very grateful to be able to support myself off what I love to do, and I again give you much gratitude for supporting and sustaining my trade.

Much Love,
Betsy Cassell :-))
